Seal, the singer with the velvety, soulful baritone, started his career as a musician despite his father's resistance and became a superstar with "Crazy" and "Kiss from A Rose" - with over 30 million albums sold and four Grammys. After a health-related break, he returned with jazz standards at the Baloise Session 2024.
Seal, the voice that touches souls. With his unmistakably velvety and at the same time powerful soulful baritone voice, Seal has had a lasting impact on the music world. Despite the resistance of his father, who was initially against his musical ambitions, Seal did not let himself be dissuaded from pursuing his dream. The starting signal for his impressive career came in 1990 when he took the music scene by storm with the song "Killer". The song, a collaboration with British house DJ Adamski, not only became a massive club hit, but also gave Seal his mainstream breakthrough.

But it was his next big hit, “Crazy,” that finally made him a superstar. The song, with its hypnotic melody and profound lyrics, became a worldwide success. Seal's mix of soul, pop and electronic influences hit the nerve of the times and brought a breath of fresh air into the music world of the early 90s. His debut album Seal cemented his status as one of the most extraordinary artists of that time. However, Seal's career was not without its challenges. After years on stage and in the charts, he had to take a break for health reasons. This turning point enabled him to reorient himself and ultimately return with a surprising twist: he turned to jazz.

His comeback with jazz standards like on his 2017 album Standards proves that he can not only shine in pop and soul, but also masterfully masters the elegance and complexity of jazz. With this musical realignment, Seal shows a new facet of his artistic diversity and continues his tradition of crossing genre boundaries and surprising his fans with new sounds. Seal remains a constant in the music scene - an artist who is constantly evolving without losing sight of his roots and the essence of his music: feeling, honesty and musical excellence.
